Advocacy by the Chapter on matters of interest to Virginia radiologists requires time, talent and commitment, but most importantly, good relationships with those who can affect our specialty. For years, the Virginia Chapter of the American College of Radiology worked to expand and develop its relationships with members of the Virginia General Assembly through lobbying activity. In 2004 we took the next logical step in the political process and formed a Political Action Committee (PAC).
Through the Virginia Radiology PAC, radiologists can collectively organize themselves to raise monies and make political contributions to campaigns for statewide officers and members of the Virginia Senate and House of Delegates. Just as the American College of Radiology acts at the federal level, radiologists in Virginia have the opportunity to support growing relationships that the Chapter has formed with elected officials in the Commonwealth.
Contributions to our PAC help increase the influence of radiologists in matters dealing with certificate of public need, managed care contracting reform, medical liability, self-referral and a whole host of other issues that find their way into the deliberations of the Virginia General Assembly.
We’d like to encourage you to make a contribution to the Virginia Radiology PAC now! By joining together, we will be better equipped to build an organization that defends, protects and promotes the practice of radiology in Virginia.
